The Bear Hunt is a short story by Leo Tolstoy. This story was written in 1872. And, The Bear Hunt summary is divided into various segments that are:
Pursuing the track and marking a circle:
It was snowy weather. The narrator went to a forest for hunting a bear with his friend and servant (Demyan). His friend shot a bear who got wounded. Then, after some conversation, his friend decided to go to the village to hunt the bear the next day, but the story-teller and Demyan carried on their journey with some bread to pursue the injured bear that day. They wanted to mark a circle around the bear and then return to their hotel. During their travel, they slept for two hours in the forest. They pursued the track of the bear and finally reached its location and made a circle. Then, both of them returned to the hotel.
Getting severe wounds before the bear's death:
The next day, the narrator, his friend and Demyan went to the forest for the bear hunt with some villagers. Then, after some struggle, they found the bear. However, the animal attacked the narrator and damaged his face severely. His companions came to rescue him. He was so injured that others took him to the town for his treatment, and he got healed in a month under the supervision of a good doctor.
After one month, the story-teller went to the forest again to kill that bear but remained unsuccessful. Within the same year, Demyan killed that animal, and the writer placed its beautiful black fur in the corner of his room as a decorative item.
